Had an awesome first breakfast here since our usual spot, Menka's Kitchen, is closed on Sundays. The restaurant is very clean and the servers were all very friendly. We received our food in record time and caught the weekend edition of "Today" on the TV screens. Very standard breakfast fare at affordable prices! Eggs, meat, hash browns and toast for $4.79, coffee about $1.75. Everything tastes fresh and hot, and servings are ample! Definitely coming again!

Came here with the wifey, her sister, the in-laws and our babies to come sit on the patio and enjoy brunch (breakfast/lunch). I had not even known this place existed but apparently it's the best place directly in between our house and my inlaws house and they chose. The atmosphere is your basic diner/coney island set up, just a smidge nicer than your standard coney island. Obviously we sat outside on the patio as it was just warm enough to be in the shade and it was easier for us to keep the stroller parked 1 foot away without bothering anybody. I decided to splurge and try out the chicken fried steak breakfast and it turned out pretty well. The steak was a good 8 oz portion and fried crispy with rich, flavorful sausage gravy. The hash browns were "meh," and the toast and scrambled eggs were standard. While the food didn't do much for me, it was priced appropriately and only took about 10-15 minute ticket time. The reuben and fries my wife had good flavor and had a good amount of meat but it didn't stand out either. All in all, for a diner, this place is 4 stars. If you're looking for a good quality breakfast or lunch, this is as good a place as any. I can't speak to the dinners as no one in our party ordered one, but some of the items did sound good. We probably won't come out of the way to eat here often, but if we are going to meet up with the in-laws, then we will not hesitate to suggest Garden City cafe.

Went out for a late 11am breakfast with my wife this morning, and we went here. I ordered the special with 2 eggs, toast, bacon and hash browns with a side of the sausage gravy. My wife order the 2 eggs with meat and pancakes. Everything came out hot, fresh and quick and was pretty good. The wait staff was nice and friendly and the sound was pretty quiet for the restaurant being about 1/2 full. Not a bad place, but not one that was really memorable either...

I eat here about 4 times a year, always breakfast. They have crepes! I love that! I haven't had a bad meal here.

Good food, friendly staff, and the owner always comes out to say hello. One time he let me pick a cucumber off the vine growing near the patio, then washed it and brought me a plate and knife. They also host a free dinner on Thanksgiving for anyone who wants/needs it.

My son loves the Tropical Getaway Crepes and I love the Veggie Skillet Breakfasts along with the Farmer's Omelette. Husband has gotten the breakfast wraps and also tried the Porky Pig. My favorite lunch item is the California Wrap ! Yummmm Son tried the pulled pork sandwitche and it was fantastic. Can't say enough good things about this place, they even have the Famous Blazo Pies on hand . A must try !!! Friendly staff, make you feel welcome. The owner tony always comes out to say hello

Three of us tried this restaurant on a whim boy were we pleasantly surprised. We had the liver and onions, perch picatta and stuffed cabbage. Also the homemade chicken gumbo soup. Everything was OUTSTANDING! Expected coney island type food but was blown away. The stuffed cabbage was a little different with a little kick at the end, just enough to make you want to take another bite. We will definitely be back.

Ordered the corned beef hash and was asked if i wanted fresh. I laughed and asked what the option was. The waitress said canned. Well I said fresh it is. Absolutely fantastic: great portion size and perfect combination of ingredients. Service is friendly and efficient. Overall a great family friendly stop for dinner or dessert.

This place is a great find! I now eat lunch here nearly every day. They have the best fresh Turkey Sandwich I've had in years, good soup and great service and Buffalo Burgers. The owner is on-site and asking how things are all the time (without being annoying) and always making sure the whole place is looking good. Great outside covered deck full of flowers, really cool. Daily sandwich special is any sandwich with unlimited soup for $4.95!

The Garden City Cafe is the best stop coming home from a Tiger's game. Or a night on the town. The food is very cheap, and has a comfort feel to it. The meatloaf, Chicken Parmigiana, and their omelette's are excellent. They also have killer chili cheese fries if your stomach can candle it. The only downfall to the Garden City Cafe would have to be the smokiness. The place reeks of smoke. Once you get over that, its a pretty awesome place for a late night dinner.

I was torn between A-OK and I'm a fan because I'm not a fan but I wouldn't have any qualms about referring people here. I stopped for a late lunch yesterday. I had tomato bisque soup and a Michigan wrap. The soup was VERY good and the wrap had chicken, blue cheese and cherries. This was very good, too. The chef and owner (Tony) came out to see if everything was alright. I guess he used to own this place, sold it to a relative that didn't do so good with it, and bought it back. Patrons seems to be very happy he's returned. If my lunch was a sample of his cooking, I'll be back, too.

Exactly what you're looking for.... at 1 am, when you want to hang out and drink coffee but nothing's open. at 8am, when you want to go out for breakfast at 5pm, when you're too lazy to make dinner at 11:30, when it's lunchtime Different crowds show up at different times, but it's a great seat yourself, unlimited coffee, 24 hour greasy food place.

Ah, Garden City cafe, such a wonderful institution. Standard Coney-island fare, heavy on the grease. Food is pretty reasonable, usually comes in a timely manner. I love that they're open 24 hours, in such a po-dunk town (I live here, I'm allowed to say it), and that you can smoke. Oh, and they have the crinkly french fries, not the good ones. Just a heads up.

It's a great little breakfast place, fast, easy and not too bad.

Wow. I stopped here on a whim because I was an hour early for an appointment. The place is nice and clean nothing fancy. I sat at the bar and ordered breakfast. On a whim I ordered the special breakfast. The menu listing for it made it sound big, but when I got it the breakfast wad HUGE!! The eggs were cooked over easy and perfect. The potatoes were awesome, everything about this breakfast was great. One more reason to be homesick for the Detroit area. Great food at a great price!!!

Everything on this menu is delicious! My favorite is the Palomino Vodka pasta. It's my go-to comfort food, creamy and tangy and delicious. They also have a fantastic breakfast menu. When I ask for "crisp bacon" - I get perfectly crisp, and not burnt like at other restaurants. The staff is super friendly and there is nothing better than sitting outside on their covered patio during the warm months. The perfect place for Sunday breakfast. Full disclosure: my company is designing the GC Cafe's new website - this is no way impacts on my review and I am not paid or coerced to write good things about them. It only means I get to enjoy more dinners when I drop by to talk to the owner!

Decided to venture out to Garden City for breakfast. I had read reviews of the Garden City Cafe and thought I would give it a try... I walked in and was greeted quickly. I was told to take a seat wherever I wanted and choose a booth on one of the outside walls of the restaurant. A waitress quickly came to take my drink order. I ended up getting a coffee and water. The waitress came back and took my breakfast order. They have a nice variety of eggs, pancakes, crepes, french toast, omlettes and everything in between. I had two eggs, meat (bacon), toast (rye) and hasbrowns which I substituted for a fruit cup. The eggs were done perfectly. Bacon was on the crispy side (which I like), toast was nice and the fruit cup was good. Bananas were a little bruised and the honeydew was flavorless, but that would be expected for this time of year. Still, the fruit was a nice option! The food was more than ample. I could only eat half. The coffee was bad. Even for cafe/coney island coffee. Bland. Watered down. The menu is really nice. In addition they have burgers, sandwiches, pasta, salads, soups, and appetizers. The service was ok. I asked for my water glass to be refilled a couple of times and waitress wasn't too happy about having to go back and getting it filled... Sorry.... You pay up front. If you can get someone's attention... It may take awhile.... Overall, its a nice place to stop if you are in the area....

Menkas was closed so we decided to try the breakfast here. Fail. Our sausage looked like it had been deep fried and left in a little to long. My rye toast was black, why you would ever serve that is beyond me. The egg white scramble....was more like egg whites over easy. To top it off we had four different waitresses. It took 5 minutes for a water...Our meal to be over to ask how it was. Us flagging someone else down to get new toast. All in all...we should of went to Platos. Nothing fresh or friendly about this place.
